| Acupuncture can be incorporated into other treatment protocols or used alone for a wide variety of health concerns. If you have a health concern that is not specifically listed here, we encourage you to contact us to discuss your individual case. We also use our blog to post information about how specific conditions respond to acupuncture. Chronic pain: Acute pain is a very important signal that the body sends to make us stop an activity. Chronic pain occurs when the body's pain circuits are broken and it continuously sends an alarm to the brain which in turn responds with pain. This cycle is very difficult to break as patients' tolerance to medication increases but their pain level stay the same or gets worse. Besides poorly controlled pain, patients end up with many side effects of the medications. Acupuncture has been shown to be very effective at treating chronic pain because it works in a very different way then medication. Acupuncture works with the entire body to re-balance and restore natural responses - including restoring the normal communication between the nerves and the brain. With acupuncture treatments patients can expect to see decrease in pain, decrease in the amount of medication they need to control the pain or both. Most importantly, acupuncture does not carry the risk of side effects so often seen with other relieving methods. |
