| Acupuncture can be incorporated into other treatment protocols or used alone for a wide variety of health concerns. If you have a health concern that is not specifically listed here, we encourage you to contact us to discuss your individual case. We also use our blog to post information about how specific conditions respond to acupuncture. Gastrointestinal problems: As many as one in five adults experience Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), also known as spastic colon. Stress is one of the major factors that increases symptoms of IBS. With acupuncture, patients notice that they become better prepared to handle stress and, as a result, experience fewer symptoms and less often. Acupuncture has also been found to be much more effective at relieving heartburn and acid reflux than heartburn medication. This is great news because the long-term use of over the counter and prescription heartburn medication, antacids, leads to serious problems, among them poor vitamin absorption. In March of this year, the American Journal of Gastroenterology, reported about growing concern that these medications lead to poor B12 absorption (B12 as well as calcium and iron are more readily absorbed from an acidic environment). B12 is an essential vitamin for your body to make red blood cells. Deficiency can lead to symptoms of weakness, fatigue, poor balance, depression and more. Inflammatory bowel diseases (i.e. Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis) also respond to acupuncture and Moxa. |
